Our Current Issues
Preserve Old Mission has recently joined, along with Protect The Peninsula, the fight against Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula's (WOMP) effort to overturn the Township's zoning ordinance.
In part, WOMP demands would allow:
- Wineries to operate on any 5-acre agriculturally-zoned lot (there are 92 properties that qualify).
- Hosting of commercial events, such as business conventions, weddings, and reunions.
- Serving of alcohol from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week.
- Concerts and outdoor amplified music until 2 a.m.
- Wine tasting rooms of unlimited size.
- Full restaurant service including catering and food trucks.
- Up to 4 additional houses on each 5-acre agricultural plot for winery employees.
- Retail sales of merchandise other than agricultural and wine.
